Magdalene Preschool Newsletter Summer term 2021

We hope you all had a lovely Easter break and have enjoyed the sunshine!

We are looking forward to a busy term. We will spend a great deal of time in the garden exploring growing and living things, looking at new shoots, buds, new growth, and the natural world. Exploring lots of changes. We will be looking after our ‘den’ area and ‘mud kitchen’ and using tools and wheelbarrows.

We have a new sandpit, so the children will be making the most of it while the weather is good! – We have been having lots of conversations about playing safely in the sandpit – please take some time to talk to your child about this at home.

Outdoor play

As usual we go out into the garden every day whatever the weather, please make sure your child is dressed appropriately for the weather and in clothes you do not mind getting muddy!!  We assume if your child is well enough to attend preschool that they are well enough to go outside for a little while.

Please help your child to recognise their own coat (write their name on the inside label too).

We are encouraging the children to have some self-help skills.

As the weather gets warmer and we spend more time in the garden please ensure your child has sun protection, such as sun cream and sun hat and suitable clothes. We always have water available for the children to drink.

Spare clothes in a bag is very helpful.

As Covid restrictions begin to ease, we just wanted to reassure you all that our systems of control are still in place. Social distancing rules outside the red doors when dropping off and collecting are still in place at the moment. Please stick to your allotted drop off & collection time and be prompt at pick up & collection.

New team member

We have a new member of the team – Becky is an experienced practitioner who has worked in early years for many years. Hopefully, you’ll be able to meet her in person soon.

We are very lucky at Magdalene to have some off-road parking, many schools do not have this facility, however, we do all need to park considerately so that we make the best use of the space.

Please do not park (or leave your car for a few minutes) in the Vicarage drive at any time it is always in constant use. It is the drive on the right hand side when facing the Church.

Children leaving to go to primary school in September.

If you have not already done so, please let us know which primary school your child will be going to in September, this half term will be your child’s last planning in the moment. After the May half term, you will receive a copy of your child’s transition form, which with their folder will then be passed onto their primary school.

If you haven’t already done, so please friend request us on Facebook, we post weekly on a Friday with photos of the children’s ideas for play and learning each week.

End of term party

Our end of year party will be on Wednesday 21st July. We are unsure of how this will look at the moment but will give more details nearer the time.

Thank you for all your continued support.
