Magdalene Pre-school Newsletter Autumn term 2020
A very big welcome to all of our new families and welcome back to the Sunflower group, we hope you all had a lovely summer break. We are really looking forward to a busy term and getting to know each other.
As you are all aware due to the Covid-19 pandemic, we are running things a bit differently this term and parents will only be allowed into the setting for extreme circumstances. We are hoping we will be back to normal in January.
We will be encouraging the children to settle in and to become familiar with the new layout of the setting and to feel safe and secure during their first few weeks at preschool. We will encourage them to recognise their own coat and to try to put it on themselves.
As the weather changes they will learn to choose wellington boots to go into the garden and put on their shoes when they come back inside.
You can help at home with this by encouraging them to recognise and try to put on their own coat and to put on their shoes.
It is our policy to play outside every day, whatever the weather, please ensure your child is dressed in suitable clothes and in clothes that you do not mind getting muddy and dirty.
PLEASE WRITE YOUR CHILD’S NAME INSIDE THEIR COATS TO HELP US!!!
If your child comes to pre-school in boots or wellington boots they will need a pair of indoor shoes to change into to keep our carpets clean and use equipment safely.
Term dates can be found on this website and on the noticeboard in the corridor at preschool.
You will have met your key person at your visit. Your Key person will ensure that your child’s learning and care is tailored to meet their individual needs. They will support you in guiding their development at home. If you wish to speak to your key person, please let us know and this can be arranged.
NO mobile phones are allowed to be in use inside the building at any time while preschool is in session.
Please see our website regarding what procedures we have put in place for the covid-19 pandemic. We have a Pandemic policy – which you can read at any time. Please speak to Sarah or Asia if you have questions regarding the pandemic and preschool.
Drop off and Collection time
Usually we have a ‘soft’ drop off time for families with siblings at school, meaning the children should be dropped off punctually at 9.00am but will not be considered late until after 9.30am. Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, you will have been given a time slot to drop off and collect your child. Please stick to this time and be prompt when dropping and collecting your child.
If you are not collecting your child yourself, you must let your Key person know who will be collecting that day, you may need to fill in an alternative collection slip. In an emergency, we cannot accept alternative collections by text message, please telephone and speak to a member of staff.
If you have any questions, please speak to your Key person, Sarah or Asia.
Due to Covid-19 and the government guidance, we are unable to accept volunteers at the moment.
We always offer the children healthy snacks at snack time there is a £25 contribution towards this for each preschool year, which you will be invoiced for.
Wet Wipes, tissue and kitchen roll
We use lots of wet wipes at preschool and lots of tissues. Please supply one box of each per half-term. We use hypo-allergenic, biodegradable wet wipes and value tissues and kitchen roll.
We are very lucky to have an off road parking area. Please park considerately so that we make the best use of the space. Please do not park (or leave your car for a few minutes) in the Vicarage drive at any time it is always in constant use (this is the drive to your right when facing the Church) Thank you.
